How To Dress Your Legs This Season: Hero Pieces for The Transitional Season

Trousers, jeans, or even a skirt, the time is now to transition your wardrobe for warmer weather! It seems a little bit hopeful, but sooner than later you’ll be needing to ditch your thermal leggings for something a little less heavy duty. With a whole new season ahead of us, there is so much opportunity to change up our style, and a new season wardrobe starts with the bottoms. These are the pieces that you’ll be wearing over and over again, with t-shirts, blazers, jumpers…

For this post, I’ve rounded up the three hero pieces that I’ll be dressing my legs in for the foreseeable months, to take me from a night out to Sunday brunch with the girls. So grab a snack and a cup of tea, and get ready to read about the pieces that your legs will be lusting over.

1. Delicate Florals

Beret – Mango

Necklace – Primark

Top – Topshop

Blazer – Primark

Trousers – Primark

Boots – Primark

Dress them up or down, a pair of delicate floral trousers are the piece sure to give you that Parisian chic look in an instant this season. This pair are a steal at only £7.00 in Primark, warm enough to keep your legs covered for the colder days, whilst still providing an on trend floral pattern to bring you into Spring. Pair with tailored pieces such as an oversized blazer or button down shirt for instant day to day glam.

2. Flared Tailoring

Scarf (worn as choker) – Zara

Top – River Island

Trousers – Primark

Boots – H&M

Flared tailoring, especially in trousers is here to stay so go and grab a pair now! I opted for a sleek black pair, perfect to take you from the office to the dancefloor, and so versatile to be styled with a number of different tops and blouses. For an evening look, pair with a satin blouse. Hot pink, lime green and lavender are this season’s colour palette and look gorgeous in satin. For daywear, go for cool girl style with a blazer and v-neck tee. Heels or heeled boots are essential with this style of trouser, although don’t feel you have to go overboard, let the trousers do the talking.

3. Flared Jeans

Jumper – Joules

Coat – Primark

Bag – New Look

Jeans – River Island

Boots – Primark

70’s style flare jeans are back with a vengeance and I’m so here for it! I’ll be wearing mine throughout Spring and Summer but for now they look perfectly nostalgic styled with my super fluffy striped jumper from Joules. I plan on styling mine with a beret à la Jackie Burkhart from That 70’s Show aka my ultimate style crush.

Dressing For Your Body Shape – A Simple Guide

The shops are booming with gorgeous new pieces for the new season, sparkly party dresses, cosy knitwear, it’s almost overwhelmingly difficult to know where to start. What most people don’t know is that there is a way to make it all that little bit easier for yourself: shape dressing. There are four main body types: hourglass, straight, pear and apple, and each one has particular styles and pieces that work better for it.Yes, that’s right, it’s time to refer back to the Trinny and Susannah and Gok Wan days of comparing your body to a fruit, but surprisingly, it does work.

So, take a look in the mirror, and decide which shape is most suited to you, and find your new season wardrobe.

Jacket – River Island, £60.00

Top – River Island, £18.00

You have a pear shaped body if your top half is smaller than your bottom half, you may have curvy hips, a small bust and a more defined waist. The best way to dress a pear shaped body is to aim to even out your body’s proportions, this is best done by layering, just like I’ve done using this gorgeous dusty pink fringed jacket from River Island, perfect for layering over a delicate cami top and a pair of skinny jeans.

Top – Marks & Spencer £49.50

Hourglass figures are defined by their big busts and big thighs and bottoms, hourglass women tend to have defined waists. To emphasize the small waist of an hourglass body, a peplum style top just like this sheer number from Marks and Spencer is ideal for drawing in the waist, plus the v-neck style underneath the sheer material is endlessly flattering for the bust area.

Skirt – River Island, £20.00

The straight body shape does exactly what it says on the tin, you’re most likely to fit into the straight category if you wear the same clothing size on your top and bottom half, if you have a small bust and bottom, and if you have little waist definition. A detailed printed skirt like this tiered one from River Island is great for adding interest and definition to your bottom half, and can also be styled casually for day wear or dressed up to be worn in the evening.

Dress – H&M, £24.99

An apple shaped body tends to have an undefined waist, along with rounded shoulders and some fullness in the stomach area. This retro inspired printed dress by H&M is ideal for an apple shape, the material skims right over the stomach, finishing just above the knee. Wearing prints and patterns tends to look very good on apple shaped figures as they flatter and camouflage the body.

December Fashion & Beauty Wish List

Why is it that whenever you have absolutely zero funding in your bank account the high street brings out the best things? I have been seeing SO many thing I want to get lately, including some beauty bits, which I don’t usually delve into on this blog, as honestly I’m hopeless when it comes to make-up and I don’t usually buy any make up unless I actually need to. However, recently I’ve decided I definitely need a total make up re-haul, as I’ve been using the same products for years, and with the new year coming up, what better time to change it up?

1. Backpack – Topshop, £26.00

Who doesn’t need a classic black leather backpack? I get into so many situations where I need to bring a big bag to carry all my stuff, and backpacks are always the most convenient, especially for traveling around London. I love the sleek, black design of this one, and at only £26.00, you can’t go wrong.

2. Boots – Topshop, £82.00

I can’t even tell you how long I’ve been wanting a pair of soft pink/nude coloured heeled ankle boots, it’s the one thing I’m missing from my pink clothing collection! These Topshop booties are a dream, they’re just the perfect balance between pink and nude.

3. Skirt – Zaful, £13.91

I love this skirt! It’s so chic and reminds me so much of something Blair Waldorf would wear, who of course is my complete style idol. However, I’m not sure if Zaful is the best quality, I’ve heard some pretty questionable things about the brand before, so please let me know what you think if you’ve bought anything from there before!

4. Pyjamas – H&M, £19.99

I’ve decided it’s time for new pyjamas, and apart from the Primark fluffy Christmas bottoms that come out every year and are my favourite things ever, I’m all about matching sets. This set from H&M is to die for.

5. Cardigan – Primark, £10.00

Can the pearl embellished trend never die please? I recently got a cardigan just like this in black from Zara and I wear it all the time, this option from Primark is a little bit on the cheaper side.

6. Choker – Primark, £6.00

I feel like I’ve kind of had my choker moment, but when I see a glam one like this I can’t resist! I think a diamante or pearl choker can really add so much luxe to an outfit, and at £6.00, it doesn’t have to be from Cartier.

7. Laura Mercier Contouring Pallette, £35.00

8. Max Factor Lipfinity Lipstick in Cool, £10.99

9. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, £25.00|pcrid|164474418478|pkw||pmt||pdv|c|prd|7527852&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkqn29MaA2AIVbL7tCh1blQfvEAQYASABEgIg6PD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#

Power in Pink: Shooting my first fashion film!

Being a complete technophobe, I naturally found the thought of shooting and editing an entire film by myself (even if it was only 30 seconds long..) a tad bit daunting. But, my fears were, of course, challenged in my Fashion Film unit of my course this semester.

Being decidedly much more comfortable in front of the camera than behind it, I enlisted the help of my friend Jess to help film, and together we scouted different pink places around London to film. The title of my film is Power In Pink, it’s an editorial for Missguided consisting of entirely pink outfits. Admittedly, I struggled with the editing of the film far less than I thought I would, and managed to emerge from the library 2 hours later with a finished film!

Christmas Presents Your Friends & Family Won’t Want to Return

Christmas is approaching at lightning speed and I thought it would be polite of me to give you a friendly reminder that Christmas is the season of giving, as much as receiving – I know I could definitely use a reminder of that! So if you haven’t already spent all your cash on presents for yourself in the Black Friday sales, this one’s for you, a gift guide for everyone in your life, and things they’ll actually want. Buying presents is definitely one of my favourite parts of Christmas, it’s like going on a little guilt free shopping spree where you can spend as much money as you want without having to have a little “why did I buy ANOTHER black jumper” cry when you get home later. Fantastic.

Shopping for mum’s is usually down to what type of mum you have, for example, the sentimental mum who would love a pair of earrings, or on the other end of the spectrum is the gym mum who is more excited by a new pair of trainers.. I’m still trying to decide what type of mum my mum is..

The Coat Edit: 5 Coats To Buy Right Now

Is anyone else completely stunned by just how cold it is at the moment? It happens every year, that moment when you truly realise that summer is far, far behind us. Starbucks stop selling Pumpkin Spiced Latte’s, you’re greeted with a blast of cold wind that almost blows you back into your house everytime you open the front door, and there’s a fabulous array of new coats in the shops! Well, that last point is an advantage at least.

With all the new styles of coats in stores it can be easy to get overwhelmed, which style should I go for? Do I even need a new coat? Yes, you do. Which is why I’m here to show you my pick of the high streets latest offerings, from teddy bear to trench, puffa to parka.

Screen Shot 2017-11-23 at 17.02.30

Pull&Bear at Asos – £65.99

The ultimate ‘she means business’ coat, a check print can transform anything from casual to “I tried today”, which is never a bad thing. We used this coat on a shoot I went on for my internship last week (more on that later), and I’m completely obsessed!

Primark – £25.00

The teddy bear coat trend is in full force this season, this staple goes with everything in your winter wardrobe, from your blue jeans to your dresses and midi skirts. But don’t break the bank over this cosy coat, Primark have nailed the trend for £25.00.

Topshop – £95.00

Love it or hate it, the ski jacket is here to stay, and it’s made specifically to keep you warm and cosy through the cold months. I love this option, the monochrome look is so sleek, perfect for any fashion girl trying not to freeze this winter!

H&M – £89.99

You can’t go wrong with a classic trench coat – the ultimate style staple! I’ve been looking for the perfect trench coat for so long, purely to fulfil my lame fangirl dreams of recreating Audrey Hepburn’s major fashion moment in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. This H&M pick is classic but modern, with it’s ruffled sleeves, giving it a gorgeous feminine touch.

River Island – £30.00

If you prefer warmth over style, a practical parka is always the way to go, and even better, this one can be given an instant girly touch by adding on the retractable pink fur collar! Amazing.

Hope you enjoyed my round up of this season’s best winter coats, a lot of these are on discount at the moment for Black Friday, so make sure you nab them while you have the chance!

OOTD: Feeling Grey

Perhaps it’s a little bit boring but I just can’t help obsessing over grey. Not quite as blunt or simple as black, or as dreamy and cosy as white, but somewhere in between. Classic, understated, minimalistic, grey might seem like the more dull choice to some, but to me there is so much beauty to be seen in it. I wasn’t thinking of this particularly when I picked up these gorgeous grey trousers from Zara, but nevertheless, they epitomise all of these connotations collectively. As you may know, I love colour coordinating, and so the rest of the outfit had to follow suit; I paired the trousers with my favourite Primark polo neck and the cosiest grey scarf from H&M that I can’t live without in the colder months.

OOTD: Autumn Hats

Today I have two posts in one! I already had two outfits waiting to be posted and since they both involved hats I thought I may as well combine the two. Hats are a huge trend for this season, personally, I’m still obsessing over the crazy fluffy baker boy style hats Miu Miu sent down the catwalk for their A/W17 shows (if you’re not convinced, check out their shoot they did for LOVE Magazine with the Muppets, it’s incredible).

There are two main styles that have been cropping up everywhere lately, and that’s the beret and the baker boy. Being a daring young fashion victim I naturally have decided to try both of these hat trends, and thought I’d show you a little bit about how I styled both of them.

OOTD: Layering Love Affair

Returning to uni has meant a lot of things have changed recently, I’m getting a little bit less sleep, having to remember to eat three meals a day, and, unfortunately, it has also meant an unwelcome pause from any blogging activities as I attempt to readjust to uni life. Nevertheless, after being reunited with my favourite photographer pal (shoutout to Ellie) I finally managed to get some photos done for a post I’ve had in the works for a while.

Layering can be tricky, but I’ve learnt that the key is not to overthink. Layered over a t shirt or even a polo neck, you can wear your favourite summer tops right into winter. This satin organza top from New Look has been one of my favourite ‘night out’ pieces recently, I have the matching skirt, choker and shoes! So, I thought, why not find a way to style it for daywear? This H&M T-shirt is one of my favourite tops for layering, the band tee style can make anything look more casual and edgy, it’s perfect paired with the girly style of the top. Slouchy boyfriend style jeans were the perfect match for the T-shirt, and I finished off the look with my favourite pair of Puma trainers.
