OOTD: Everyday Metallics

Metallic season is almost upon us, before we know it the shops will be filled with shiny Christmas jumpers and party dresses, and honestly, who isn’t living for that? I’ve been getting my fill of hi-shine in early this week, and have rediscovered these metallic silver Zara culottes which have always been a firm favourite for me. Paired with the white ribbed roll-neck I’ve been wearing with just about everything recently, it works perfectly for a casual everyday look.

Unfortunately Zara don’t stock these culottes anymore, but if you ever come across a similar pair I would definitely recommend picking some up. I wear them throughout summer and winter and they can be dressed up for a night out or worn in the daytime. It’s such a great and subtle way of delving into the metallics trend!

Hope you enjoyed this little outfit post, let me know if you guys have any other metallic pieces you love to wear, I’m always looking for more inspiration! Make sure you’re following me on Instagram at @heyitsphoebe for more outfit pictures and inspiration!

Autumn OOTD – How to Style Winter Whites

43358323_236826276986106_1350857408905216_n

Returning to uni has definitely been a crazy busy few weeks, but I’m ready to get settled into some new blog content now. Autumn is my most favourite season for countless reasons, but mostly I adore the feeling of entering into a whole new season wardrobe. Swapping crop tops for thick knit jumpers and sandals for knee high boots, it’s so exciting to think of all the new outfit possibilities!

My favourite challenge that I’ve been setting myself recently has been seeing how much of my summer clothing I can wear into autumn, I’ve found that you can pretty much make anything work with a turtle neck layered underneath! Let me know if you’d like to see a post about wearing summer pieces into autumn, because that’s definitely an idea I’d love to work on. But with that in mind, the colour pallette I’ve been inspired by recently is bringing whites into winter.

From looking at my other posts I feel like you can tell that I love sticking to one colour scheme for an outfit, you can almost never go wrong. I think that the black accessories finish it off really well and give a subtle break from the white.

I had been searching for the perfect white jumper to layer over dresses and skirts for so long, and I finally found this one from H&M. H&M have so many thick knit white and cream jumpers like this one in store at the moment, so definitely have a look if you’re on the hunt! At £17.99 this one was a steal, and I love that it’s just the right length for layering or to be tucked into jeans like I’ve done here.

I’m also obsessed with these white corduroy jeans from Primark, they also do them in an appropriately autumnal rust colour, and a few others if my memory serves me correctly. I chose white as they were so similar to a pair I tried on in Zara a few weeks ago, but at only £12.00, these ones are much cheaper and just as comfortable.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

How To Style: Animal Prints

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Even a few months ago, the idea of wearing animal prints just wasn’t something that had every really appealed to me. The likes of leopard, zebra and snake print all conjured images of tacky 00’s fashion in my mind, but then of course, that exact era is creeping back into our current wardrobes as I type this. My initial appreciation of the trend began when I was working at a magazine fashion cupboard and we had two incredible pairs of boots from Office sent in, one white pair and one brown snake print. They’re called Ambassador boots, and I knew I just had to get myself a pair when I saw them!

I know that these boots are going to be the most amazing statement shoes to get me through A/W 18, although as you can see I’ve been trying my best to make them work in this London heatwave! Not long after I got these boots, I found their perfect partner! I have to say, if you’re looking to get yourself some animal print, Zara is the place to go. This button down dress was £29.99 and is completely heatwave approved by me, don’t be fooled by the 3/4 length sleeves, the material is totally lightweight.

I’d like to think that I invented double snake print? Mixing prints has always been so daunting to me, as a complete fashion rule follower I’ve always been a strict one print per outfit kinda gal, but as you can see I’ve been branching out! Combining different prints can be really easy as long as you’re paying attention to the different colours and strengths of the prints that you’re using, this dress and boot combo works as the print on the boots is a lot less stronger and darker than the print on the dress. In this case, you definitely don’t want to be too matchy-matchy.

Soon after my snake print moment, I discovered these leopard print trousers in Zara, these are a great versatile piece as they can be worn casually, as I’ve done above or for a night out with a lace bralet or bodysuit and heels. Leopard print is an effortless way to ease yourself in to the animal print trend, it’s classic and goes with almost everything. It’s also easy to mix with other prints, as I’ve done here with this polka dot print top. I even paired them with my snake print boots on a different day!

SS18 Style Guide – Trends To Invest In Now

33992813_1899617530105485_1567537108829077504_n

At last, summer is finally here! SS18 is upon us, and if you’re wondering what trends to invest in, you’ve come to the right place (hence the title). The catwalks saw a number of new trends for the summer, bum bags, co-ords, leopard print, etc., and many of these are set to carry on right into the winter months. But which of these are the most wearable and easy to find on the high street? Well, luckily for you, I’ve picked out some of my favourite pieces that I’ve been wearing non-stop and put together a little SS18 Style Guide. Sit down, Grab a cuppa and enjoy!

1. Gingham and Cowboy Boots33898781_1899617590105479_2686877178976534528_n33897376_1899617503438821_6319359380319895552_n

I call this my cowgirl look – if you thought you had seen the last of gingham in SS17, think again! The check pattern was seen at Mary Katrantzou in bold contrasting colours, in Mara Hoffman’s wide legged jumpsuit, and at Alexander Mcqueen in pretty pastel colours. I’ve opted for this Primark dress, which manages not to be overly “yee-haw” with it’s delicate flared cold-shoulder sleeves. Keep your eye out for a pair of cowboy boots for extra style points, these are going to be huge this summer! I love my pair from Primark that have cut-outs at the back, meaning they can still be worn in the warmer weather.

2. Button Detailing33990776_1899613116772593_6761729376741490688_n33920170_1899613130105925_972824613828427776_n

I think it’s probably safe to say that you’ve probably already seen a fair few of these bad boys on the high street already, button detailing on everything from dresses and tops to skirts and trousers is huge for SS18. They give the perfect finish to a linen dress in a block colour, just like my dress pictured above from Primark!

3. Straw Bags33890802_1899618100105428_6240953438071422976_n

Meet my new best friend – the basket bag! You neeeeed one of these in your life! Although this one from Zara hasn’t proved to be of the most practical size, I love the leather detailing and I literally haven’t been able to leave the house without it lately. It just manages to make every single outfit that little bit more summery.

4. Retro Florals32705615_1884181708315734_1776291799522869248_n32511914_1884181551649083_5017289767650328576_n

Here’s the reason why retro florals are great – they’re pretty without being too delicate or subtle. Not that there’s anything wrong with delicate or subtle but, personally, I like my florals to be a little more kick-ass than that. Bright and powerful – these patterns do just the trick. Retro florals are back in full force for SS18, particularly in dreamy pastels. These are most easily styled in a dress, just like I’ve done here with this H&M shift dress.

Hope you enjoyed this little round-up of my pick of the new season trends, hopefully it gave you some shopping inspiration! I’m sure I’ll be venturing further into some of the other trends not featured here once the weather (and my bank account) allows for it, so keep an eye on my Instagram page for more on that (@_heyitsphoebe)!
